Adovia Exfoliating Facial Sea Salts *Review*

If you don't know me you wouldn't know that I'm a big fan of holistic beauty treatments. Ever since I found my mothers recipe book as a child I was hooked. I started with egg facials and quickly moved on to homemade chamomile concoctions. It was like magic. Unsurprisingly, this love carried over into adulthood when I began making my own natural bath and body products as a lark. Now I love checking out new healthy beauty products. Adovia Exfoliating Facial Sea Salts is a great example of this.

It consists of a single ingredient: fine grain dead sea salt. Dead sea salts are full of minerals. Using them for exfoliation will help your skin absorb some of those minerals as the dead skin cells are exfoliated away. This makes for even healthier skin overall. As far as ingredients go it's one of the best.

That being said, this does need to be mixed in with something such as a carrier oil (olive oil, almond oil, etc.) or cleanser. I was gentle when applying it and I don't have sensitive skin. It was still too rough for me to continue to use on my face. My skin is normal and this does say it's for oily skin. That might just be it.

However, this is perfect for a body scrub. It doesn't market itself as such but I would strongly recommend it for hand and body use. The weather is getting cooler. It's the time of year when everyone in cold climates begins to feel the effects of the dry air. This is when I really bust out my scrubs and moisturizers. Tomorrow I'm going to show a few ideas of how I will personally be using my Adovia Exfoliating Dead Sea Salts over the next few months.

Long story short, I'd give this 3/5 stars for facial use (for my skin type which is normal) & 5/5 for other uses. I'm really looking forward to incorporating Adovia Exfoliating Facial Salts into my weekly beauty routine.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Cassani Fogless Shower Mirror *Review*

The fogless shower mirror by Cassani is a detachable mirror with a razor holder that you hang in your shower for general shaving use. Chris had been wanting to buy one for a long time. When I got the chance to review it I was thrilled. I was a bit worried about how it would hold up in our old shower. Well, it's been great!

It's been in our shower for about a month and a half now. During that whole time the mirror and razor holder haven't fallen or fogged up even once. Our razor is pretty heavy so that's saying a lot! The fogless shower mirror exceeded my expectations and I am so pleased to have this in the shower now. It's really helped to cut down on messes around the sink from a certain someone's shaving. I love it!

  • It has a high rate of customer satisfaction and includes a 100% money-back guarantee.
  • It comes with a stainless steel razor hook. This will help prolong your razors lifespan by keeping it from sitting on a wet shower ledge.
  • The mirror itself is made with anti-fog nanotechnology. It really works too!
  • You can see you entire face in it. You don't need to worry about missing spots or turning at weird angles to see.
  • It's detachable. It's great for home or travel.
  • It's also deceptively light. This thing does not weigh much at all so it really stays up well.

I liked this so much and at $15 it's well worth the money. I honestly don't have a single con to list- which is a first for me. After over a month of use this has held up with no issues or signs of wear whatsoever. It's a great product. I'm giving the Cassani Fogless Shower Mirror 5/5 stars!

I received the products mentioned above for review purposes using All opinions written are 100% honest and own.

Iced Green Tea Latte w/ Kiss Me Organics Matcha *Review*

I've been wanting to try matcha for years now. I finally got the chance with Kiss Me Organics. Matcha is basically powdered, high-quality green tea. It's the same thing you'll find at Japanese Tea Ceremonies. Nowadays it's used to flavor delicious drinks & treats. Thanks to a little experimentation I came up with the recipe below.

    Iced Green Tea Latte

1 T. Agave Nectar (or to taste)
    1/2 c. Whole Milk
    1/2 c. Purified Water

With a fork or whisk mix the agave & matcha in a medium sized container until completely blended together. Add your water and mix again until smooth. Add the milk & whisk. Pour into an ice filled cup. Enjoy!

Note: The key here is to make a paste with the agave & matcha before adding anything else. I found that this makes for a smooth beverage instead of a grainy one.

I have to admit, at first I had a few kitchen disasters when I tried using this matcha. I tried it hot but I'm no expert. I think my technique was wrong because it turned out grainy. I also tried it in a cocktail & a different iced latte recipe. You see, the unspoken trick to using matcha is have a light touch. More is not always better.

I was about ready to give up when I turned to google. I found a delicious green tea biscotti recipe. (You can find it on my new matcha pinterest board.) I'm not gonna lie, I polished off that batch within 24 hours. It was amazing! Now I LOVE my Kiss Me Organics Matcha!

    • It's USDA certified organic. Seriously, the only ingredient in this is 100% organic matcha.
    • Its has 137x the antioxidents of standard brewed green tea.
    • Its helps burn calories & improves energy and focus. I have a cruddy metabolism so I'm pretty happy about this.
    • It's really versatile. You're not stuck using this just for drinking. You can use to make all sorts of baked goods and sweet treats. Plus, now that it's summer you can add it to your smoothies. I keep wanting to try it in a strawberry one.
    • It comes with a 30 day, 110% money-back guarantee. I like it when companies have confidence in their product.
    • It's delicious! Am, my daughter, insists the iced lattes are even better than chocolate milk. I'd have to agree.
    • The two recipes I tried from the ebook didn't work for me. After I tried some different ones I found online the difference was a pleasant surprise. (I didn't try all of the recipes so some might be good.)
    • This is powdered so if it's mixed incorrectly your beverage can turn out grainy. I've had the same problem with cocoa powder. It's an easy fix.
    • It does contain caffeine. This could be a pro depending on how you view it. I have to watch my caffeine intake though.

I would give this a 5/5. I'm not going to fault Kiss Me Organics Matcha for user/recipe errors. No one's buying this for ebook. The product itself is delicious! This is definitely a summer must-have! The flavor is light and refreshing. The iced latte is now one of my favorite things to drink. It's super fast to make and I get to feel good about the beverages I'm serving my family. I am so in love with this matcha!

I received the product mentioned above for free using for review purposes only. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.

    Picture Problems

So I was going through my picture albums today, doing a little cleanup. I came back here to check on things and write a new post. That's when I noticed the missing pictures.

Where had they gone? Why were only some of them missing? Was there some sort of blogger glitch? Was this the work of a nefarious product picture thief?

After a little light detective work on my part I came to the root of the problem. If you delete a photo in your g+ account it gets deleted from blogger as well- even if it was a separate upload!

So all of those nifty pictures I had up? Gone.

Unfortunately I did this after deleting files on my computer so I don't have any extra copies or any way to get them back. There's nothing left to do but call it a learning experience and move on.

    Tomorrow's a new day.

StyloPhora Sphere Ice Mold Set *Review*

StyloPhora's Sphere Ice Molds are silicone molds that create baseball sized balls of ice. Each set of 3 comes with a collapsible silicone funnel which you can use to help fill your molds. After you fill your mold you place it in the freezer for later use. Your frozen balls of ice can then be added to drinks and will not thaw as quickly as a standard ice cube.

It's been over a week now since I started using StyloPhora's Sphere Ice Molds and I love them! This is not your average run-of-the-mill silicone mold. These things are tough and thick. They hold their shape easily so you don't need to use kid gloves with them. These are the best quality silicone product I've used to date. The ice balls came out perfectly and they've held up very well when we've used them. In fact, one goes in Chris' bedside water every night now. I enjoy adding things like fruit & dog treats.

    • They're dishwasher safe AND BPA free! This is pretty much mandatory for our households kitchen.
    • The ice balls worked perfectly and did, in fact, take longer to melt.
    • Very versatile- they can be used in punch bowls, whiskey, to make dog treats, and much more!
    • They come with a 100% money back guarantee (not that you'd need it.)
    • The molds come with a collapsible silicone funnel and have fill lines to reduce spills.
    • They're made with sturdy, FDA approved, food grade silicone.
    • The normal list price of $39.99 is a little steep for me. (They're currently marked down to $13.97 on Amazon.
    • I've had a little difficulty in getting them to unmold sometimes. However, this is quickly fixed by running them under lukewarm water for a few seconds.
All in all I would give the StyloPhora Sphere Ice Molds a 5/5. The cons are practically negligible and they're just so well made that I can't help but love them! Plus, they're reusable and BPA free. We go through ice (and therefore water) less frequently now which is totally better for the environment. I would definitely recommend these molds- to the point that I'll probably buy some sets for Christmas this year!

      They're also Jareth approved! ^_^

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

My New Beautiful Correspondence *Giveaway* Series

I've decided to start hosting a weekly giveaway to go along with new card making hobby. There's just no way I can send all of the cards I've been making. I'm also a bit of a product junkie. Put two unrelated things together and what do you have?

      Beautiful Correspondence.

This weeks giveaway is for one handmade Celebration card and a new bottle of Nicole by OPI nail polish in Roughles.

This giveaway will end July 13th at midnight, central time. It's open to US residents only. The winner will have 48 hours to respond via email or a new winner will be drawn.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun Lotion *Review*

      What Does It Do?
      The claim:
"• 24 hours of luxurious moisturization with refreshing hydrating ribbons
      • Lightweight feel
      • Coconut papaya fragrance
      • Refreshes sun-tired skin with soothing aloe gel"

      My thoughts:
When I put this on I actually saw the ribbons in the gel- which was cool! It feels like what it is, a cross between aloe gel and lotion. It dried smooth, not sticky. The fragrance itself is hard to put my finger on. It's light, not overwhelmingly fruity. If I hadn't known better I might not have picked up on the coconut scent at all. I actually really like it. This one will be staying in my beach bag from now on!

      Should I Use It?
      The claim:
"Infused with silk protein and Shea butter to moisturize skin for 24 hours, along with aloe for cooling benefits, Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration™ is an indulgent after sun experience that pampers and soothes the skin...."
      My opinion:
This does contain shea butter, mango butter, cocoa butter, and aloe juice, all of which are well known ingredients for helping to maintain healthy skin. I checked it manually in the Skin Deep Database. All of the ingredients except for Fragrance scored a 5 or better. I feel comfortable in saying I would continue to use this product for soothing relief on a hot day.

      Where Can I Get It?
Here in the states this is a pretty common brand. I would suggest checking near the aloe & sunscreen at your local drug store. You can also find this online at Walmart, Target, &

      Final Score?
I'd give this 5/5. I will admit I was a bit prejudiced against this brand before I tried it. I expected it to be full of sketchy ingredients. I'm happy to say I was wrong. I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. I can't think of a single thing I dislike about this product. I would say this is a must-have beach product for the summer.

Disclosure: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are 100% honest & reflect my own personal views.

      About the Author: Angela Muse

      Angela Muse, Author Angela Muse

Angela Muse was born in California to a military family. This meant that she got used to being the "new kid" in school every couple of years. It was hard trying to make new friends, but Angela discovered she had a knack for writing. In high school Angela began writing poetry and song lyrics. Expressing herself through writing seemed very natural. After becoming a Mom in 2003, Angela continued her storytelling to her own children. In 2009 she wrote and published her first rhyming children's book aimed at toddlers. Death of the Mad Hatter *Review*

I requested and received a free copy of "Death of the Mad Hatter" by Sarah J. Pepper to review from Goodread's Read It & Reap program. I was so excited to read this book, having been a long standing fan of Lewis Carroll's work. The entire bio is a riddle ending with a catchy phrase, "Heads would roll... Hearts would break... In the end, would it matter who reigned?" I was hooked before I even started reading this.

Unfortunately that's about how long my love for this story lasted. The book is full of incomplete sentences and contradictory descriptions. I couldn't get through a single chapter without being drawn out of the story by what I feel was unbelievable dialogue. The story hinges on Riley, a 17 year old boy who reads as though he was written by a mature female adult. It didn't work for me.

I had to force myself to keep reading, doing my best to get through this book so I could give my review. I really wanted this to be different. I'm sad to say, it wasn't.

      Final Score: 2/5
The characters of Wonderland were somewhat interesting. This book could still be worse.

Mysteries of the Grand Canyon Book Blast *Giveaway*

Mysteries of the Grand Canyon by Marie von Minden
When I heard there was a giveaway featuring an interactive storybook for kids about animals I knew I had to write about it here. I'm sure this book would be great for any kid who loves dogs. When I was a kid I would've been all over this.

      About the Book

Title: Mysteries of the Grand Canyon | Author: Marie von Minden | Publication Date: March 21, 2013 | Publisher: | Adventures of Discovery: Independent | Pages: 110 | Recommended Ages: 5 to 12 (read-aloud for younger children)

Summary: The author of the first interactive Grand Canyon ebook for children takes her readers on an exciting journey as a lively little dog befriends a California condor and an Abert’s squirrel, and together they explore the canyon.

What child wouldn’t want to go on the adventure of a lifetime with a great pup like Kristi Kay and follow her on a multimedia journey that is both fun and educational? Amazing stories told by her new friends keep you wondering what surprising new secrets they will reveal next. What happened to the people that lived in the canyon? Will the condors in the rescue program survive? This adventure story for elementary grade children offers an engaging way to experience the Grand Canyon.

For those who would like to learn more about the issues touched upon in the story, additional information is provided in the Kristi Kay Talks with a Ranger section at the end of the book via interactive media, photo galleries, maps, charts, and links to external websites.

This interactive ebook is especially appropriate for children 7-11 years old, and as a read aloud for younger children, and it would also be well-suited for an educational setting. Divided into 12 chapters, the book lends itself to be read in several sessions at the age appropriate pace.

“Mysteries of the Grand Canyon” is the first book in the A Cairn Terrier Travels to National Parks series, a series of educational adventure stories created to inspire appreciation and stewardship of our precious parks.

      The Buzz

"Mysteries of the Grand Canyon is educational, exciting, and entertaining all rolled into one. Marie Von Minden gives readers a fascinating glimpse into the canyon's past as well as the creatures that still call the Grand Canyon home. The interactive function allows for further learning and the brilliant photos visually stimulate children and help instill the knowledge found within the story." I highly recommend picking up a copy of Mysteries of the Grand Canyon." ~ BeachBoundBooks
"A must have experience for young people. With its cute, intelligent looking dog, and a bird that looks like it was conceived by Dr. Seuss, it puts us into an animal society - so beautifully conceived in its civility, generosity, and interest and care for the world - that it is reminescent of books like Winnie the Pooh. These elements, set in the grandeur of the Grand Canyon, beautifully brought out by magnificent photographs and videos, make it a compelling book from both parents' and teachers' points of view. ~ Mr. Naturally, iBookstore Review
"Overall, this iBook provides a great introduction to the Grand Canyon to children who are about to visit it or who just want to learn more about this important National Park. It includes lots of beautiful photographs, the story is engaging and there is a huge wealth of information included. I found it a great opportunity to talk about the Grand Canyon with my son, and tell him about my own experiences visiting the park and hiking into the crater. I also really enjoyed learning about the California Condor and all the effort that has gone into the Recovery Program; it provided a great opportunity to talk about Endangered Species and our responsibility to help preserve them." ~ iMum
"More than just a story, the book has incredible imagery that appears to lift off the page – a true photographic journey." ~ Mom's Lifesavers
"Readers of all ages will enjoy this engaging story to discover one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World at the Grand Canyon National Park. This photographically rich and entertaining ebook is especially appropriate for 7-11 year olds and as a read aloud for younger children, and it would also be well suited for an educational setting." ~ The Appy Ladies
"As a teacher, I am grateful to use this amazing book with my class! My students loved learning about the Grand Canyon from precious Kristi Kay's point of view, and they were excited to participate in the interactive aspects of the book; they didn't want to put it down!" ~ A. Gillette, iBookstore Review

About the Author: Marie von Minden

KK and Marie for websiteJPGWould you like to live each day surrounded by unsurpassed beauty and deeply connected to nature? Marie finds it hard to believe, but this is now her lifestyle and she wants to share it through her photography and stories.

Marie von Minden was born and raised in Poland. She immigrated to Canada in 1982 and in 1999 she and her husband relocated to the United States. Like many Europeans, she was overwhelmed by the vastness and the beauty of North America and she developed a passion for landscape photography.

They began camping in the wilderness and connecting with nature on weekends and holidays, first in a tent and later in a cap-over camper. It was during those camping trips that a dream of full-time traveling and living in an RV evolved. In 2002 that dream became reality and they have been traveling in a 34 foot Airstream trailer ever since. America’s National Parks continue to be one of their favorite places to visit.

When Kristi Kay, a Cairn Terrier, joined them, the idea of a children’s book series about America’s National Parks as seen through Kristi Kay’s eyes grew as a natural extension of their lifestyle and love of nature. Through interactive adventure stories enhanced by photography selected from her vast photographic library, animation, sounds, videos, and unique graphics Marie hopes to express her gratitude for what has become her home, and to help cultivate appreciation and stewardship of these precious resources.

      Free Garage Sale Printable

Because my first project was for personal use I decided to do another. I whipped up this garage sale flyer at 2am this morning. The red brings in bargain hunters and the yellow is for window shoppers (people driving by.) The layout comes from the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.

      My First Digital Art

I made this yesterday. It's my first attempt at digital scrapbooking. I was going for an art-journal style. It's for the Let's Scrap challenge.

This was made using pieces from the following free kits:
A Tree is Nice - Freebie by Brook Magee
Pretty Little Things by Studio Flergs
Time For Change by Heather Roselli
      Country Strong by Jenn Barrette
Splat it up! #3 by Juliana Kneipp
[every day] add on by lauren grier
      Little Red by lliella designs
      Sunny Days by Melissa Bennett
Today is the Best by Shawna Clingerman
      Everyday Essentials by Traci Reed

Note: Because the items I used are not for commercial use the picture above is not available for downloads or pinning. I'm simply posting it to share my new hobby.

Art Printable (aka This is what happens when you stay up all night)

In my case you end up making an art print I guess. I made this as a combination of a few different challenges. The nautical theme is from the ABC Challenge, the color scheme is from the Color Palatte Challenge, and the layout is from Stamp & Win's Card Sketch Challenge. The cuttlefish pic I used can be found at The Graphics Fairy. The papers are by Nadia Slegers.

      Container Planting

Am and I put this container together today. You can't see many blooms but trust me, they'll be there. Since it's part of Am's garden she picked out the colors and plant variations.

In this container there are four shock wave denim petunias, one spike plant, & one variegated vinca vine. Tomorrow I'll be hanging it outside for all the world to see.

This is part of our weekly kid gardening series. For info and ideas these are the books we're using:

Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask *Review*

      by Eva NYC

      What Does It Do?
      The claim:
"Use either as a weekly treatment or an every day conditioner. ...Apply generously to the hair, wait 2-5 minutes and rinse thoroughly."
      My thoughts:
I like to deep condition my hair once a week, usually while shaving. I'd say I left this in between 5 and 10 minutes. It didn't take any more work to rinse out than usual and didn't leave any noticeable residue.

      Who's It For?
      The claim:
      "For ALL hair types"
      My thoughts:
My hair is long & wavy. Some products give me problems with the top of my hair being too oily or the bottom being too dry. This is perfect for me. I won't say my hair feels silky but the bottom isn't as dry as it was. It was also noticeably easier to brush. I haven't had any frizz problems today. I am well pleased.

      Should I Use It?
      The claim:
"It's made with Keravis Protein & Argan Oil to deeply condition, repair, and strengthen hair. The Argan Oil nourishes and revitalizes, while Keravis Protein drastically increases hair's strength and elasticity."
My opinion:As far as Argan oil goes it meets the claims. Argan oil is used to heal, fortify, and moisturize cosmetically. I'm not familiar with Keravis though.

      Where Can I Get It?
Nordstrom, Free People, Nasty Gal, Asos, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ulta, Urban Outfitters, Kohl's, Walgreens, &
      $12 for 2.03 oz (60mL)
      $40 for 16.9 oz (500 mL)

      Final Score?
I'd give this 4/5. It smells lovely, isn't runny at all, & detangled my long, going-on-Rapunzel, hair. It's a little pricey but hey, Argan oil is not cheap! I'm curious to see what their Soften Up Conditioner would do for my locks.

Disclosure: This is an unsolicited review of a product I received as part of my Ipsy subscription. I did not receive any compensation for this post. All opinions are 100% honest & reflect my own personal views.

5 Minute Washi Tape Bulletin Board

What do you do with a plain ol' bulletin board?

      Wrap it in washi tape!

This seriously only took me about 5 minutes to whip up. Just stick, rip, and go!

You can see that it's not entirely covered. I just did a quick border with some chevron washi tape. I didn't worry too much about the edges. You don't even notice them unless you get close.

For 5 minutes of time you can't go wrong with this craft!

      Coming Soon

So, I've decided to start blogging. I'm hoping to make this a little bit of everything- crafts, recipes, reviews, etc. I know we're supposed to be specific but really, I'm just writing for me. Hopefully, someone else will enjoy it too. ^_^
